Esther Cécile Bendaoud Boccara, born in Casablanca in 1962, is a Moroccan mixed-media artist whose work draws from her Moroccan-Jewish heritage. Raised in a family immersed in embroidery, crafts, and storytelling, she incorporates textiles, found objects, and personal memories into her art.
While specific details about her formal art education are not publicly documented, Bendaoud Boccara began creating art in the 1980s, focusing on family history and cultural identity through mixed-media installations. By the early 2000s, she was exhibiting across Morocco, recognized for her poetic and tactile works. She often collaborates with local artisans, using heirlooms, fabrics, and everyday objects to explore themes of displacement, tradition, and womanhood.
Bendaoud Boccara continues to live and work in Morocco, engaging in exhibitions and community art initiatives.
