Majd Arandas is a Palestinian photographer from the Deir al-Balah Governorate in Gaza, was tragically killed by an Israeli airstrike on the 1st of November, 2023. A self-taught artist, Arandas was known for his deep love for Gaza and his poignant photographs that captured the beauty and resilience of Palestinian life.
His work, which often featured the Mediterranean Sea and scenes of daily life in Gaza, carried a profound sense of hope and resistance amidst the harsh realities of conflict. In a 2016 opinion piece for Al Jazeera, Arandas eerily anticipated his own fate, acknowledging the peril of documenting life in Palestine but emphasizing the unyielding love that drove him to continue.
Through his works, Arandas highlighted the enduring strength and cultural heritage of his people, capturing the essence of Gaza's spirit even in the face of adversity.
