Nicole Bouldoukian is a sculptor and visual artist who has lived and worked in Beirut since the late 1960s. She was born in France and studied literature in Montpellier before turning to art through personal exploration. Over time, she developed a practice rooted in careful attention to material and form, working with bronze, enamel, paper pulp, wax, and plaster.

Her work often reflects on change and the quiet shifts that shape both objects and memory. In 2024, she exhibited White Metamorphosis at Saleh Barakat Gallery. The pieces in that show were shaped from crushed cardboard and paper, made in the aftermath of the Beirut port explosion. The sculptures held a sense of stillness and renewal.

In 2023, she returned to the same gallery with Comme une oasis… en noir et blanc, a series of ink drawings of palm and yucca trees. These drawings were small, quiet portraits of species facing extinction. Together they served as both record and reflection.

Earlier in her practice, Bouldoukian worked figuratively, often using bronze and resin to explore stories drawn from nature, literature, and everyday life. In recent years, her focus has shifted toward absence and what is at risk of being lost such as plants, places, and moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

She continues to work from her studio in Beirut. Her art carries the mark of long observation and a deep sensitivity to the world around her.
