DIVERSITY FROM THE ARAB WORLD
12 MARCH, 2012 - 12 APRIL, 2012
ALBAREH ART Gallery
This Group exhibition gathers a gradient of art experiences and differing modes of expression showcased to put forth the different artistic styles, identities as well as the diversity available in the Arab world. The show presents an amalgamation of differing artistic expressions emanating from differing cultural backgrounds. These experiences come from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Oman and Yemen.
Although the combinations of artists vary in their age and experiences, the works presented question the traditional concepts by offering differing styles and techniques. The works will range from photography to painting to video installations as well as sculptures. The classical photographic artwork will be presented in a new form to show new insights, visions and techniques that have emerged from the artists' lenses through the deployment of technology and graphic techniques into the finished artwork. The paintings presented will also tackle different subjects and will show the various techniques implemented. This approach will also apply to sculptural works highlighting different materials, forms and contents.
"I hope that this exhibition will expose the rich diverse history and culture of the Arab world. I made sure that there was no bias to techniques, topics or even schools of art...I hope that this exhibition will achieve the aim of Albareh and that is to progress our community in the visual culture further as I am a strong believer that art is a powerful tool for communication", Says the exhibition curator, Hayfa Aljishi
