Fouad al Futaih is a renowned Yemeni artist born in Taiz, Yemen, in 1948. He is a master of graphic art, as well as being one of the first to adopt modern sculpting and acrylic colors in representing Yemeni folklore and heritage. He has exhibited all across the world, including Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. Al Futaih received a Diploma in Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf, Germany. He soon became director of Fine Arts in the Ministry of Culture Sana'a and founded the first art gallery until it was closed in 2012. The artist moved to Aden in recent years from 'Umrah after he divorced his German wife and married a Yemeni. He then stopped painting since 2012 and stayed in Aden until he died in 2018.
