Born in 1978 in Salé, Morocco, Fouad Chardoudi obtained a diploma in the poetic image from Mohammed V University in Rabat and started exhibiting in 1996. A plastic artist, Chardoudi, is also a poet who succeeded in combining these two artistic worlds. He is notably the author of many poetry books, and his poems profoundly inspire his paintings. Showing more interest in abstract figuration at his beginnings, the painter progressively moved towards lyrical abstraction. His canvas is an introspective space to free the unconsciousness and imagination. It is a matter of expressing emotions and feelings that he renders with spontaneity. Detached from an ornamental aesthetic or the principles of calligraphy, he translates the words into a palette of luminous colors and texture. And through the energy of the brushstrokes, he explores another dimension of the Arabic letter. Fouad Chardoudi lives and works between Rabat and Salé.
