Stranger At Home. With Kamal Boullata. A film by Rudolf van den Berg
Stranger at Home
‘Both sides of the explosive Palestinian-Israeli conflict are presented in this excellent documentary on the Palestinian artist Kamal Boullata who returns to Jerusalem after 18 years of living in the U.S. The artist goes back for the opening of an exhibition of his silkscreens, and he is filled with anxiety. After the 1967 war, Boullata was denied a visa by Israel, otherwise his trip home may have occurred earlier. The delay, and his own stresses about visiting again, are aptly portrayed in all their emotional range by director Rudolf van den Berg.’
