Rafa Nasiri was born in Tikrit, Baghdad, in 1940. He was a contemporary dedicated painter and printmaker and the founding member of “Al Ru’yya Al Jadidah” (New Vision Group) formed in Baghdad, in response to the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. He has taught at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, Yarmouk University in Jordan, and the University of Bahrain, and has played an instrumental role in launching the printmaking studio at Jordan’s Darat al Funun during the early 1990s. He established, in 1987, his private graphic studio in Baghdad. Rafa Nasiri has held a large number of individual exhibitions from 1963 to the present time in Hong Kong, Baghdad, Kuwait, Beirut, Casablanca, Paris, Beijing, Amman, Sharjah, Manama, and Kampen. Some of his artworks are owned by Arab and international museums and establishments.

In “Iraqioon” series, Ricardo Karam decided to dedicate a show to remarkable Iraqis who defeated wars and extremism with excellence and success. He aimed at providing Arab and Iraqi youth a glimmer of hope and confidence in their ability to outshine despite the tragedies and crises surrounding.
